ESSC Network and Programs Partners
ESSC works closely with local government, the business sector, religious and academic institutions, people's organizations and non-governmental organizations across the Philippines.
Asian regional level
ESSC participates in the activities of the Asia Forest Network. It is also the coordinator of SPARK , a regional programme of Voluntary Service Overseas. The countries of the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia participate in this program through exchange learning and sharing of best practices in community based natural resource management.
At Local level
ESSC initiates activities for the Philippine Working Group (PWG) in Community Natural Resource Management, and the Bishops-Businessmen's Conference for Human Development-Cluster on Environment and Indigenous Peoples (BBC-CEIP). PWG seeks to identify and recommend natural resource management policies that support community participation, local government roles and the business sector, which have been grounded on sound environmental principles. It aims to deepen the understanding of natural resource approaches during the process of policy review, and when drawing recommendations.
In Europe
The partnership between Facultés Universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix and Universite Catholique de Louvain highlights the use of geomatic tools to facilitate greater understanding of the impact of human activities on the environment. These technologies have been used in formulating national standards, improving tropical forest statistical classification algorithms and GIS integration in barangay development planning. It has also been used to increase GIS awareness of using community derived data within the university community.
