What is Philippine
Working Group (PWG)?
The PWG engages in
discussion and site visits by exchanging thoughts and ideas and
exploring new ways of improving community base resource management at
the policy and implementation levels. The Environmental Science for
Social Change or ESSC facilitates the PWG meetings and provides the
information support and agenda-setting for selected themes. As a
Jesuit research organization, ESSC works with cultural groups as well
in providing assistance for natural resource management planning and
implementation that integrates cultural concerns and that strengthens
cultural integrity.
Who compose the PWG?
Professionals and
practitioners from the government, NGOs, donor institutions,
development groups, academe, and research centers made up the PWG. On
his/her own personal capacity, a PWG member attends meetings and
contributes for the analysis of issues and for exploration of
scenarios and responses. He/she may also join site visits to observe
how things are on the ground and to listen and share learning with
the community and local officials.
