Ecology and Jesuits in Communication (Ecología y Jesuitas en Comunicación), or Ecojesuit, is a monthly online newsletter for Jesuits and work colleagues who increasingly seek to engage ecologically but need time, space, and information sources to language their ideas, build up confidence, share experiences, and integrate ongoing initiatives.
Launched in November 2010, Ecojesuit is produced by the Jesuit European Office (OCIPE) and the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP) with editorial and technical assistance from the Environmental Science for Social Change (ESSC), a Jesuit research institution in the Philippines. It is available in English and Spanish.
Ecojesuit is part of the Jesuit Ecology Network, facilitated by OCIPE with partner members including JCAP, that seeks to have a developing global communication for Jesuits and lay collaborators to share existing engagements and advocacy and learn about ecological commitment to change and right relations with creation. The scope of Ecojesuit integrates environmental, global, and Jesuit people and by offering readable science information with a social justice orientation towards faith enlightenment, it hopes to critically contribute in filling information gaps, building communication bridges, and contributing to public opinion. The approach to global phenomena is to learn from them and thereby assist in responding to local engagements. With this, Ecojesuit intends to enhance current Jesuit initiatives, to inspire the development of new initiatives, to provide tools for better decision-making in environmental and social concerns faced by Jesuit groups. Subscription is free and those interested may proceed to the Ecojesuit website. |
